Blayne Tom - Varsity Assistant & Sand Head Coach (6th Year)

Coach Blayne Tom is back on the sidelines for his sixth season at Lakewood and has been instrumental in the last 4 Moore League Championship teams. Coach Blayne is responsible for the setters and offensive coordinator. Blayne grew up in Hawaii and graduated from Konaweana high in 1994. Blayne started playing competitive volleyball in his sophomore year where he excelled, being selected first team all Big Island Interscholastic Federation (BIIF) all three years and MVP in 1994. Blayne continued his volleyball talents to Long Beach City College. Coach Tom was selected first team all conference while leading LBCC to the state finals both years.

Coach Tom began his coaching career while in college, coaching various girl club teams in all ages. Coach Blayne is the 13-1 Head Coach at SoCal Juniors. Blayne has also coached boys and girls high school (Gahr, Mayfair, and Bellflower) during the same time Blayne was a certified as a CIF volleyball referee.

Coach Tom has been married for over ten years to his college sweetheart Kimberley and has a son Kyle. Kyle graduated from Lakewood in 2015 and was named Co-MVP of the Moore League as the setter on the undefeated league championship boys varsity volleyball team. Coach Tom enjoys spending time with his family, going to the beach, surfing, and outrigger paddling in his spare time.

2017 Varsity Coaches

Mike Wadley - Varsity Head Coach (14th Year) 22nd Overall  

 Head coach Mike Wadley enters his twenty-second year at Lakewood High School and fourteenth overall as its head coach. Over the last thirteen years he has had 20 All-CIF, 11 All-Americans and 5 Fab-Fifty players suite up in a Lancer uniform. There have been 31 student/athletes signing at: UCLA, Long Beach State (8), Cal State Fullerton (4), Pepperdine, UNLV, University of Miami, University of Illinois, University of Great Falls, Wyoming, Utah, Missouri State, Coppin State, NYACK and CSUDH respectively. Last season saw Setter Shelbie Dobmeier move on to Arizona State University, Libero Ally Busch move on to the University of Redlands and Middle Sam Longstreet going to Fullerton College. The 2016 team finished in the top 50 in the nation and in the top 7 in the state respectively.

Ten out of thirteen teams, during Coach Wadley’s tenure, have advanced to the CIF SS-IAA Quarterfinals with six of those teams advancing to the Semi-Finals. Those teams have an overall record of 341-97. The 2007 team finished with a ranking of #21 out of roughly 5,000 from Prep Volleyball and a #9 National Ranking from Max Preps and the Division I California State Championship. The 2008 team started off the year being ranked as the #1 team in the nation by ESPN Rise magazine and did not disappoint. Each of the last ten of thirteen years Coach Wadley’s Lancers has ranked in the top 100 in the country. 

Coach Wadley has been married for 22 years to his lovely wife Jessica and has two sons Adam and Jared. In his spare time he enjoys golf, cooking and hanging out with his wife. Adam is a Dominguez Hills Kinesiology Major and the current JV Girls and FS Boys coach. Jared is a 9th grade student at Lakewood High School and is on the golf team. Coach Wadley is a Long Beach native attending Wilson High School graduating in 1989 where he ran Track, Cross Country and played Volleyball. Coach Wadley has a Bachelor of Arts Degree in English from National University and has a Master’s of Arts in Coaching and Athletics Administration from Concordia University. Coach Wadley is also one of the two Athletic Directors on campus along with Lisa Busch.

Cookie Feomaia -  Frosh/Soph Head Coach & Varsity Assistant (4th Year)
Coach Cookie Feomaia enters her fourth season with the Lancers after leading the Frosh/Soph squad last season to a second place finish. Cookie is also the JV boy’s volleyball coach who led the team to another league championship in 2015. Coach Cookie is our most experienced Moore League coach who has been at four different schools with success at each stop. The 2016 team was another league champion added to Coach Cookie's lengthy resume.

Coach Cookie was the FS Boys Coach at Long Beach Millikan in 2005, most recently at Long Beach Jordan with the JV and FS girl’s teams and assisting her sister on the Varsity. Coach Cookie’s longest tenure was at Long Beach Wilson where she was a mainstay on the lower level squads and assisting longtime coach Susan Pescar to immeasurable success. During her time with the Bruins, Coach Cookie, garnered six different league championships on the boy’s and girl’s program and assisting with the Varsity for another five league championships with both programs.

A 1987 graduate of Long Beach Jordan who was the starting setter since her freshman year, Coach Cookie, has two children who were also one of the Moore League’s best at their respective schools. Her daughter Marilee Frost attended Millikan High School as an outside hitter and her son Louie Frost attended Wilson High School as a setter.  

Coach Cookie enjoys spending time with her family, cracking jokes and hanging out with friends.

Adam Wadley - JV Head Coach & Varsity Assistant (5th Year)

This will be Coach Adam's 5th year coaching at Lakewood. Adam is a Wilson High graduate where he played 3 years on the varsity team and was named 1st Team All Moore League and the Steve Lewis Award winner his Junior and Senior year. He was also named 2nd Team Press-Telegram Dream Team that same year. While at Wilson he played for Coach Cookie all four years he was at Wilson.

After Wilson, Adam went on to play at Long Beach City College where he helped the Vikings to two consecutive Quarterfinal appearances. Adam has now transferred to Doninguez Hills and was an assistant coach at Long Beach City College where he helped lead the Vikings to the 2016 State Championship and Goldenwest Volleyball Club. Adam's 2016 JV teams was the league champions.

During his club years, Adam played for Highline Volleyball club. His teams finished 2nd in the 16s club division, 9th in the 17s club division, and finished 5th in the 18s club division where Coach Devon was his assistant coach. Adam also helped Coach Devon and Coach Sean with the boys team that won league 2015. This year Adam is coaching the boys again as the FS coach.
