Thank you all for a wonderful and hard working Summer.  We as coaches appreciate all of the hard work that was returned and the awesome outcome that we had.  

CONGRATULATIONS ONCE AGAIN...to the Varsity for winning the Orange County Summer Classic at Tesoro High School.  The Varsity did so well they did not lose one game the entire tournament.  In pool play they beat: Tesoro, Great Oak, Trabuco Hills and Foothill.  In the playoffs they were matched up with Rosary in the Quarter-Finals and totally destroyed them with a 25-18, 25-9 result.(I love beating private schools)  In the Semi-Finals we were matched up with league rival Long Beach Poly and prevailed 25-18,25-21.  In the Finals we beat Capistrano Valley 25-15,25-13 to win the 2nd annual tournament.

Remember to keep working out during the summer and touch the volleyball throughout if not it will show when you come back and we as coaches will know that.

Do not do anything dumb over the three week break that will cost you your playing time and position on the team.  Last but not least have a safe 3 weeks and we will talk to you soon.  Check out the website for updates.

Uniforms this season will cost $275.00 with the Varsity costing $295.00.  This includes the following:

2 pairs of shorts

2 pairs of socks

3 practice t-shirts

1 warm-up jacket

2 jersey's

1 sweatshirt

All of our uniforms except the t-shirts and sweatshirts are made by Mizuno and are a high quality uniform.  The uniform money is due September 4th at the scrimmage.

Congratulations to the Varsity team for winning the 25th Annual Steve Lewis Prep Nationals.  This is also the first time in school history that we have won the event and was an awesome day.  In pool play the Varsity defeated:  Tesoro, Louisville and Poly 3.  In the playoffs they defeated: El Toro and Poly 1 in the final.  What a final match with great action coming from both sides of the net with Lakewood prevailing in 3 hard fought games.  All-Tournament team of:

Junior Varsity also had an awesome tournament going the distance in the Copper Division and losing in the Finals to Great Oak.

Look for more Varsity and Junior Varsity action this week when we play at LBCC, El Dorado, North Torrance and finally at Tesoro for the Orange County Summer Classic where the Varsity was in the finals.

Tryouts are going well and we are going to have a great season.

Car wash #2 will take place next Sunday at the Lakewood/Weingart YMCA.  These Car washes are desperately needed to help with Tournament, Equipment and Training Aides to make our program the best.  

THE CAR WASH TICKETS WILL BE HANDED OUT MONDAY MORNING WE ARE SELLING THEM FOR $5.00 APIECE AND WE ALL MUST SELL 10 APIECE.

WHEN YOU SELL YOUR TICKETS PLEASE BRING THEM TO SCHOOL AND PUT THEM IN AN ENVELOPE WITH YOUR NAME ON THE OUTSIDE AND GIVE THEM TO YOUR COACH.

Once again we need parental support for the event!  I also need the following to make this successful:

1.  Towels (lots of them)

2.  Soap

3.  Wash Clothes

4.  Buckets

5.  Hoses with Splicers

6.  Squee Gee for the windows

7.  Paper Towels

We also need the following donations:

1.  Ice Chests

2.  Drinks (Soda's, water etc.)

3.  Coffee and Donuts in the morning

WE REALLY NEED ALL THE HELP THAT WE CAN GET SO PLEASE DON'T HESITATE AND JUMP RIGHT IN!!!

Junior Varsity and Varsity please check the calendar for your times at Summer League this week!  Varsity is at El Dorado on Monday and Wednesday night check the calendar.  We are at LBCC on tuesday and thursday.  Varsity is at North Torrance on Tuesday night.

They both just won the 15 Open Gold Medal last night!!!  Taylor was named 15 Open MVP....quite an accomplishment!!!
