There were parents concerned that they would get their Booster Club polo shirts after the season was over. We are going to have two deadlines for those who want them right away. The first one will be due by Friday September 15th. The second wave will be done by the original due date of October 2nd. Please check them out because they are really cool shirts. The downloads are on the page marked Booster Club information and with the CORRECT information that was fixed from the meeting.

We had a very successful parent meeting with almost a 100% parent turnout. That was a very encouraging start to our season. As promised the two forms that you need to download are on the Fundraising and Booster Club pages. Please download them and return them by the due dates. Both forms have been updated and ready to download just go to the right page.

When the school year begins the Varsity will practice from 3:00-5:00 in the Main Gym. We are going to practice an hour earlier than originally planned.

We are going to practice from 4-6 in the main gym that day. So mark your calendars. JV will practice in the small gym that day too!

We have a program that we haven't done for around 9 years. Check the fundraiser page to download information.

The car wash results were without a doubt a trememdous success. On top of each player getting the amount that they sold seperately but we also added another $10.00 off of the uniform bills. So the average player who sold all of their tickets have a balance due of $190.00 for their uniforms.

We are going to introduce another fundraiser for the parent meeting. I will pass out information soon.

Also, check the summer schedule for this weeks practice schedule. It is now up so no excuses.

Also too, parents check out the Booster Club information we are going to have sign-ups for that at the parent night.

I am calling out to all of the parents the we need help with the supervision of the Car Wash on Saturday. We would like the parents to work in two hour shifts starting with each team. If the parents of each team can help that would be great. Here are the times:

JV 8-10
VAR 10-12
FS 12-2

Coaches will be at each one but we still need adult supervision. Anyone interested in volunteering please email me or call me at 562-997-8000 ext. 3146.

My Booster Club President has requested that we are ONLY going to accept Money Orders or Cash for the Uniforms. We have had a problem in the past with bounced checks so we are going to protect ourselves from that and only accept one of the two.

We are starting a new Booster Club that will have parents that will support the program. It is the same as the other one but we are asking for a $25.00 sign-up fee. With that you get a Booster Club shirt with embroidery of your daughter's # on the sleeve and Booster Club embroidered on the chest. Please email me if you are interested in signing up. I will pass out forms during the Parent/Meet the Player night.

I expect to have all of the money returned to me on Saturday if not you will be FINED and not given a uniform. Whatever tickets that you don't sell you must RETURN them to me or you will be fined and not issued a uniform. When you do return the tickets/money please put it in a envelope and have your name on it with how much money/tickets are inside and sealed. This is very important that you do this because I cannot remember 42 different situations for the tickets.

The practices are going suprisingly well. I am pleased with the effort that all of the players have put forward. Lets keep up the strong work ethic and see where we can go this season.

The Varsity is going to travel to Mater Dei to scrimmage both teams. JV and FS are going to stay at Lakewood to scrimmage. Mark your calendars now!!! All scrimmages start at 3:00-4:00.

We are hosting LB Poly on October 21st for the 2nd Annual Steve Lewis Volleyfest. The Frosh/Soph team will play Poly's FS team on Friday October 20th at Lakewood at 3:00. So once again we have updated the schedule and hopefully this is the final adjustment for the season. Click on the schedule page for a NEW download.

There will be a Car Wash held on August 26th from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Lakewood-Weingart YMCA. Tickets for this fundraiser will be $5.00 apiece and will be given out in booklets of ten on Monday August 21st. All of the tickets that you sell will go directly to your uniform fees that are due the first day of school. We will work in 3 shifts of 2 hours apiece. Everyone is expected to attend!!! More details will follow in a couple of days.

We need donations and help for the following:
1. Towels (lots of them)
2. Soap
3. Wash Cloths
4. Buckets
5. Hoses with splicers
6. Squee Gee for the windows
7. Paper towels for windows

We also need donations for the following:
1. Ice Chests
2. Drinks (Soda's etc.)
3. In the morning Donuts and Coffee

Wednesday August 30th at 6:00 p.m. is this years Parent meeting. We will also introduce the players and teams to the parents for our 1st Annual Meet the Player Night. Please make sure to mark your calendar for this event because last years parent meeting we had a 99% attendance rate. In other words YOU MUST HAVE A PARENT OR GUARDIAN THERE!!!!!

There are some of you who have NOT turned in your physicals yet. I will post those who have not in the next day or two. If you do not have it by Monday you will not practice and we will take away time from the court during the season. This is a hardlined rule and will not bend no matter who you are!!!

There will be a Mandatory Parent meeting for ALL of the players involved in the program. It will be on Wednesday August 30 in the Main Gym at 6:00 p.m. We will discuss program policy and Booster Club information.

Just a gentle reminder that uniform fees are due the first day of school in September.(NO EXCEPTIONS) We are looking at the car wash date for August 26th at either the YMCA or Glory Days. Also look at the Summer Calendar for the practice times when we start back. Hope all is well and you are all conditioning....

Lakewood Volleyball would like to extend a welcome to the new Frosh/Soph Coach Erika Chidester. She finished up her eligibility at Long Beach State last Fall and we are looking forward to her enthusiasm and knowledge here at the WOOD.

If you ordered a uniform you are held responsible for paying for it. Reminder that we purchase them and not the school so everyone has to fundraise or buyout their uniform. The cost this year is $250.00 and the FEES ARE DUE THE FIRST DAY OF SCHOOL IN SEPTEMBER.(NO EXCEPTIONS) Start saving your money NOW and not later. This is the same message that I said on July 27th in room 419. We will be having a Serve-A-Thon with the papers being passed out the first day of practice on August 21st. We are also going to have a Car Wash(maybe if we get a location) during those first two weeks of practice.

I still haven't heard much about a location for this event. So if I don't hear of it by Friday of next week, I will not schedule one and we will not fundraise for our uniforms. In other words I need help.......
